Weber OneTouch 22.5 Gold Review
The Weber OneTouch series is a joy to use with many convenient and interesting features that will help you get the most out of your grill. This charcoal grill really cooks and is guaranteed to deliver satisfying results.
The quality is evident from the moment you open the box. The neatly packed porcelain pieces then get assembled in less than 15 minutes. This is excellent because if you cash and carry from your local store, you can still get your grill up and running in time for that dinner party later in the evening.
In addition, the durability of the OneTouch is of no doubt here as the entire bowl and lid are constructed from Weber’s favourite porcelain–enamelled steel. Porcelain offers excellent protection against the weather (Singapore is a rainy country) and rust which means your Weber will always look younger than it really is. I’ve had mine for about 4 years and it still doesn’t look much different from the day I bought it. This Weber grill also has a beautiful polished look for those who are concerned with the aesthetics. On top of being anti-rust, the aluminium vents and ash-catcher add further credence to the decision to get this grill. Nonetheless, the most amazing feature of porcelain is that it radiates heat evenly, ensuring all your food is evenly cooked with minimal fuss.
Apart from durability, Weber has designed the OneTouch to come with a slew of features to ensure convenience and comfortable ergonomics. To start off, they have well positioned twin-fibre glassed handles and all-weather wheels. The grill also uses a tripod design which confers both stability and manoeuvrability. The cooking surface of 22.5’ provides an ample cooking area, easily handling about 6-8 steaks or 12-16 burgers. More than enough to keep my friends occupied for our bi-weekly gatherings. Also, if you get the OneTouch Gold (which I did), you’ll find the hinged grate a wonderful addition as these give you quick access to refuelling briquettes in a safe and easy way.
Pros: Very good durability; Size allows for some portability; Easy cleaning and storage
Cons: Gold is considerably more expensive and has no local warranty (although I’ve never had any problems with this set)
